I just didn't find the reasons for Anakin going to the dark side convincing. So what if one of his mentors said, "I'm a Sith! Join me!" Anakin would have been taught for years that the Sith were evil.
How would any of you respond if a mentor of yours said, "I'm a freeper! Join me! I know what your visions mean and I'm the only one who can save your love!" Your response would be "Riiiiight. See ya!"
If I could do a redesign on Episodes 1-3, I'd do it like this: Episode I starts with Anakin at about age 12 or 13 and had Padme be 16, and the daughter of a senator, not a senator herself. 3 year gap in age. Stupid to have a 6 year old doing all that crap. And meesa thinks Jar Jar would have never never have seen screen time. That character didn't have to be annoying and goofy to carry out his function. And I would have changed the battle droids. They looked goofy, too, with goofy voices. And the Trade Federation wouldn't have sounded stupid. And we would have seen a lot more of Darth Maul. Surely he could have kicked several people's asses besides Qui-Gon.
Episode II starts with Anakin at about age 20. Padme's 23 and a senior senatorial staffer. Besides that, the movie was OK, except again, the wasp people looked like crap and the droids were still goofy. Gotta say that Mace Windu and the purple lightsaber kicked ass.
Episode III could be with Anakin at age 24 or so, with Padme at age 27. You could have put a slightly older actor and actress in there - I'm thinking Ashley Judd for Padme. Anyhow, I'd change this plot completely. Here goes:
The beginning of the movie starts with newly elected Senator Padme and the Chancellor kidnapped. The Jedi go after them, and Padme is seriously injured during the rescue attempt. During her convalescence, it's found out that she's pregnant. The Jedi figure out that the father is Anakin and as a result they suspend him from Jedi active duty or whatever you want to call it. He's sent to some kind of Jedi monastery or whatever to atone. In the meantime he's forbidden to see Padme. THEN he has the visions of Padme dying. He insists on seeing her. The Jedi refuse. Anakin quits the Jedi order. Palpatine steps in, seeing the opportunity. Anakin starts to learn the Dark Side stuff. It could have been really cool to see some training sessions. Padme's health takes a turn for the worse and Anakin is only able to see her last few seconds of life. The Jedi, sensing the Dark Side in him, hide the twins from him, telling him that they're dead. Anakin returns to Palpatine, swearing eternal vengeance on the Jedi, and Palpatine hides him, anticipating his use as a weapon. Then as "General Order 66" is executed, it's Anakin who leads the slaughter in the Jedi Temple.
It makes more sense to me that way!!
