OK ipod users I have a question

I ordered ipods for my kids for Christmas. They came today. Both are the same model. But one of them is missing the CD that you have to use to load the software. I will email apple and get a replacement but my question is - can we use the same CD for both ipods? I hate for the kid to not be able to play with his XMas present on XMas day.

It shouldn't be an issue at all. If push comes to shove, you can download everything you need from Apple's site.

I'm sure there is a way to keep their music libraries separate, although I don't have this issue so I can't be sure. Apple has excellent support if there's a problem though.

Really? I'd mention the state of the package to Apple. That seems wrong. There's no need to steal the cd with software. It's available for free from Apple.

6. The disks are pretty much useless anyway

All you need is the LATEST version of iTunes, and the latest updater from here: http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

I can't say they're completely useless, but if an new update came out after those disks were burned, then you'd have to download the latest update anyway. I never even opened the package on my disk.

I was pissed there for awhile. I hope the thing works. It was opened! No plastic wrap - the other one was plastically sealed.

LOL My sister was salivating. She kept saying "I thought you loved me too". I told her to save her money and she can use my teacher discount to get one for herself. Then she asked how much did it cost - $100? I said yep, and then some. :)

They need at least three hours. But make sure you set the preferences in iTunes to single song copying (or some such), or the iPod will try to suck up the music library on that machine.

They are both at work now. I never see the younger spawn. Between work, school and girlfriend, he is home only to sleep.

The older one you know. Now that he is employed, he is rarely home either. And you know that is fine by me :)

Sounds like you may have gotten a returned or refurbished iPod.

That way A) you know they work, b) the kids can play with them ASAP.

iPods take 3 hours to charge initially.

Look at the one missing the disks carefully - if you see scratches, start complaining.
