2. Ok not a horror story but I think I pulled a fast one on my freeper BIL

He and my sister are divorced. He is an ASS. My sister travels a lot and he takes care of the kids, ages 10 and 8. Great kids but he complains about keeping them entertained while their mom is out of town. I think he says this so one of us in the family will volunteer to take the kids for an evening and give him some freedom. But of course since we all can't stand him, we aren't doing him any favors. LOL

Anyway, for Christmas I bought the kids gift certificates to the movies. They can go 3 times. I asked my sister if that was okay and she said sure, let their dad take them, he hates kid movies. Then she chuckled and said "Great gift. Thanks."

3. Does he not have a job?

4. Therein lies the reason for the divorce

He has his own business. Works maybe two days a week. Now he justifies it because he says it gives him time to spend with his kids.

But even before they were born, his work ethic was - shall we say - lacking?

My sister told me she divorced him because she got tired of waiting for him to grow up and support his family as he should.

6. My cousin's ex quit his job

and started his own business and refused to pay child support. He remarried, bought a $500K house and a boob job for his wife. Still no child support. He way underreported his income on his tax returns and actually admitted to my cousin that he did that to avoid giving her a dime.

My cousin started with her local small town prosecutor and went all the way to the state attorney general's office to nail him. It took her several years. But she finally nailed his ass. He had to sell his house and will be making court mandated payments to my cousin for a loooong time now.

It was a great victory. Her hometown paper put her on the front page when she finally nailed him.

8. The year when I was college

when my father's girlfriend joined us for Christmas. Yes, you read that right. The poor dear was a former Vegas showgirl, dim bulb, and raging alcoholic. She showed up to table drunk, with a thick layer of foundation and powder on her face, and took her plate to the kitchen to throw layers of shredded lettuce and sour cream on her food. My brother and I went for a walk after dinner to cool off, where he expressed a desire to go hide in the Netherlands for the rest of his life.

10. Why don't they care that I'm traveling so far?!

By the time I get there tomorrow I'm going to want to drop on the floor. I have had a migraine for about a day and a half and I'm in a significant amount of discomfort. But I know as soon as I get there, I'll hear "tjdee, can you run out to the store and get XYZ?" or "tjdee, why do you look so grumpy, you should try to look happier for kiddo" or "can you help me with some of the cooking?" or "can you drive over to grandma's? what difference does it make if you drive an extra half hour, it's only a half hour, your car is bigger than mine."

I'm going to be driving for three hours with a six year old in a bad car, so when I get there, just take your presents and STFU! OKAY?!

Then, the day after Christmas, my mother will be grumbling to herself that I'm staying in bed past...oh.... six AM. "Part of being an adult is not sleeping all day." "Did you want to make kiddo some breakfast? She's probably hungry." Really? I only LIVE WITH HER EVERY DAY, I didn't know that! :grr:
