| My second baby girl is six years old today... |
|
How does that happen?
She was born 12/28/1999 at 3:28pm. She was 9 pounds, 8 ounces.
She's in the family room right now playing with her Magic of Pegasus Barbies.
*sigh*

My boy - my baby - my youngest - will be four years old next week. There really are no more babies in my house.
I remember so vividly when my husband and I decided we wanted more children (we already had my oldest daughter, who was ten when we got married), and all of a sudden, the first of those additional children is six! I remember sitting up eating a ham sandwich, apple pie and coffee while the nurses cleaned up the baby, and it doesn't seem like six years ago. Then again, in some ways, it seems so far away.
Don't mind me. I'm just wallowing in a mother's sappiness today.

S'okay. And you are entitled to wallow as much as you want :)
I do "daddy sappiness" all the time. I was just looking at a photo of my baby girl when she really was a baby... sappiness doesn't even begin to describe it :)
Funny how those little monsters make us love them :)

And I can't stop it. She's the only one and I went through so much for her. She'll always be my baby. It's a term of endearment and a reminder to her that no matter what happens in life she will always be my little one and I'll love her forever.

They'll understand when they have children of their own. It's so hard to forget about changing their diapers, nursing them in the middle of the night, bathing them, rubbing lotion on their tiny heads and then deeply inhaling the sweet smell afterward. I've got to stop this! It makes me either want to cry or have another baby!

but my daughter and I are settled in our ways. It would be hard right now to have another. Yet I still think about how sweet they are when they are all snuggled into the crook of your arm, softly snoring. And their big bright eyes following your every move. And the playful slaps to your face-not to hurt but just to touch. And the gurgles of excitement they make when they hear your voice.
I'm in trouble now!

I've got nothing to add on the baby related reminiscing--other than all indicators point to your children ALWAYS being your babies! I'm in my mid thirties, and if my mom doubled in weight--I'd STILL be twenty pounds heavier than she is, and yet she still refers to me as her baby boy.
I got used to it--yours will too! :D:party:

Yes, my mother and my mother-in-law still think of their big, strappings sons (both in their 30s) as their baby boys. Like me, they each have one son, and like my son, my brother is the youngest.

We would never do that - we always make sure her birthday is separate and distinct from Christmas.
Today I told her about all the excitement we felt on the day she arrived.
