| Cat owners. I need some help with a traumatized kitty. |
|
Ok, my cat has been thru the trauma of me leaving my boyfriend (major ordeal) and moving to a really tiny place that's less than half the size of our old place in the last month. I am sure she misses him, they always played. (I certainly don't lol)
but here's the problem:
She is driving me BATSHIT INSANE. About 4 or 5 times a day she is in my face or climbing my back and wants my undivided attention. I play with her for 20 minutes or so but it's not working. She's somehow forgotten how to play alone. This goes on for HOURS. I work from home so this is becoming a serious issue, besides the fact my back is starting to look like freddie krueger visted me in my sleep (and yes I keep her claws trimmed). I can't get anything done. She's also started biting! She never did that before!
She's 2 years old and has always lived with 2 people until now. She's an only kitty and an indoor cat and it's too cold for her to visit the outdoors to expend some energy...
Does anybody know anything I can do....before I lose my mind!

| 1. When you need to work, just block her into a separate space |

even a bathroom..
Cats do not always immediately adjust to new digs.. Trim her claws too.. ands be patient with her:)
please don;t let her outside..even when it warms up.. There are some nasty cat diseases out there, and dogs, and mean kids, and C A R S ..
You will both survive.. She's just lonely and confused right now :)
also, if you have anything with the boyfriend's scent on it.. a shirt..socks..anything.. put it in her bed and maybe she'll go snuggle with it :)

if the mix is right, normally it does work out, they can mess with each other and leave you be.

that it might traumatize her more....
But she wants something or someone to play with... and she is a major kitten... so another cat might be the right thing..
might do us both some good!

| 6. Time for another kitty! |
|
They may get along fine at first or they may hate each other for a month, but eventually they will become friends and playmates. And you will enjoy it as well, two cats playing together can be hilarious.

My two cats are missing their brother/spouse, who died earlier this year. I hate leaving them alone together, because they fight. Roo was the stabilizing force.
Getting another cat, or even the right dog, would probably do the trick.

| 19. Is your cat a female? Go for a young male kitten, will make |
|
for an easier introduction. Cats usually hate each other when first introduced, so you will have to go slowly. Don't expect your cat to love the kitten right away.

| 13. Agreed. Two is almost always better than one. |
|
They keep other entertained. It will take them a while to get used to each other, but once that's done with, it's a blast having two.
