| Anybody have a favorite concert? |
|
For me The Who in 1989 at Foxboro, even without Keith they ROCKED. What a great show. I saw them in 1982 at Shea and they were o.k. -- not great. After the Who it would be McCartney in Montreal around 1990 and then Springsteen 1981 River Tour.
For my wonderful husband he agrees with the Who and then Roger Waters on the "Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking" Tour with Eric Clapton.

Two days of nothing but Phish in upstate Maine; three sets per day. Best concert experience of my life.

| 10. New Order, Pine Knob, MI July 1, 1989 |
|
Public Image Limited and the Sugarcubes opened up. John Lydon mooned the audience, and Bjork jumped off the stage into the crowd. But New Order was the best. I have never seen an audience react to a group like that. Everyone was dancing. It was really great.

Willie Nelson in a small bar a few year ago. He played for three hours non stop.
Jimmy Cliff and King Sunny Ade at Red Rocks.
The Meters many, many times.
Robert Randolph three weeks ago was awesome.
The Subdudes on Halloween in the French Quarter while I was tripping my ass off.
The Allman Brothres reunion at the Charlie Daniels jam in Nashville in 1986.
Lots more that I don't have time to list.
<ON EDIT> One more, I can't believe I forgot. Backstage at Stevie Ray Vaugh at the Grand Ole Opry. Before the show I drank Heinikens and hung out with SRV. Way cool.

| 18. Amnesty International Conspiracy of Hope Tour 1986 |
|
At Giants Stadium.
No food, no water, no sleep for more than 24 hours. 100 degree heat in the crowd, sun beating down, people passing out all around me, fire hoses drawn on the crowd for relief.
But I scored the FRONT ROW for some of my favorite bands...
The Police U2 Peter Gabriel Etc, Etc, Etc,.
The best part:
Seeing Bono sing "Invisible Sun" with The Police at their reunion gig (and still the last "concert" they ever played).

a small, now-defunct, nightclub in Seattle. There were only 400 people there, and the Heartbreakers were SMOKIN'! They are a great bar band and that was a concert experience to which no other can compare. You should have heard that roomful of people turn Breakdown into a war chant.
The first time I saw Van Halen, WAAAAY back in 1977, was amazing - you could tell David Lee Roth had been a gymnast. I'd never seen anyone do onstage what he was doing except in a gymnastics meet - and he was singing while he was flying about.
The first time I saw Oingo Boingo was incredible, but the next two times, it was clear Danny Elfman had lost his enthusiasm for the whole thing.
REM at Memorial Stadium outside on a beautiful summer's evening was one of the finest concerts ever. You haven't heard Everybody Hurts until you've heard an entire concert audience singing along to it, tears in every eye.
Santana in the Tacoma Dome blew away the main event of the evening, which was the Grateful Dead. Santana was utterly incomparable.
