Movies where the musical score just blew you away.

There have been a few that stick with me. Crouching Tiger, Amelie, The Thin Red Line, O Brother Where Art Thou, and Frida are some.

Recently, I thought the Brokeback score had a good atmosphere.

Any others that stand out with you?

4. Fight Club and Requiem for a Dream both come to mind.

Itzhak Perlman's violin work was SUPERB.

9. Ah yes, and the Pianist as well.

I enjoyed Yo-Yo Ma in the Crouching Tiger score, as well as Perlman.

11. I have never heard anyone that could wring emotion ouf of a violin

like Perlman :P

15. I need to get Schindler's List on DVD.

It killed me in the end, when he questions how many more people he could have helped. The music surely added to the emotion of the film.

18. Loved "I am Sam"

I like the cover of "Blackbird".

Sometimes, music does make a movie. I don't think "Star Wars" would have been half of what it was without the John Williams score.

25. I discovered Rufus Wainwright through I Am Sam

He sang Across the Universe. Fiona Apple also does a good cover of that.

The Beatles music really holds up with all the covers (except for Eddie Vedder's cover of You've Got To Hide Your Love Away - yikes!).

19. The New World

Tragically, not too many people saw this. The score is amazing.

It looked like an amazing film.

22. It really is amazing.

And not really a lot of dialogue so the score was even more important to the film.

If it's still at a theatre I recommend seeing it there. Or I hope you have a HUGE screen TV!

24. Thin Red Line was sort of like that.

The music in that was truly inspiring. It sends chills down my spine.

Amadeus, Taxi Driver, Escape from New York, The Fury, Bladerunner, Pi.

Must be my favorites becasue I bought em all.

C'mon, admit it. When Indy busts some dude in the chops just as the music is blaring Dum Da Dum Dum, Dum Da Dum Dum Dum! You just wanna stand up and cheer.

32. I like most of John Williams' work.

Star Wars, Indy, Superman, Empire of the Sun, all wonderful.

33. Traffic, Black Hawk Down, Amores Perros, Dead Man, Taxi Driver

Lots of the others that have been mentioned, such as Requiem For A Dream, The Last Temptation of Christ etc.

Some classics like "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly," "The Magnificent Seven" and definitely "Lawrence of Arabia."
