| Just tuned in to Oscars(West Coast time)--did I miss any awards? |
|
:hi: Just caught make-up with Carrel and Farrell.
Totally slept on the whole thing this year. I was so satisfied after watching the Independent Spirit Awards yesterday, I guess I wsn't as big on the Oscars. The Indies are so cool, as you get a glimpse of the art/passion side of things. All the actors are dressed more casually and seem more layed back. I just dig that vibe, and appreciate learning more about films that I should seek out for rentals, that may not have made it to my local theaters--or I missed at the art house.
Thankfully, I missed all the red carpet crap. Yes, the outfits are pretty, etc. I love glamour as much as the next guy/girl, but all the stuff that goes with it is so shallow and ridiculous. The cattiness toward those that commit what the fashionistas consider fashion 'faux pas' is completely horrible to me. I have little patience for all of that these days.
Sad to have missed anything Jon Stewart said or did, but that's about all I'm sad about missing...
Anyway, if I missed a major award category, please let me know...
Thanks!
Oh, Morgan Freeman always looks so handsome--love that man! Congratulations Rachel Weisz, who just won while I was writing and revising this post. LOL!

How some people think hollywood is out of touch, and then named issues such as civil rights when "hollywood" was out of touch, and how he was glad to be part of such a group

|
The year shrub took us to war, everyone was so afraid of being Dixie Chicked they wouldn't say anything. :eyes: Michael Moore was the only one with balls. I've loved him since that moment.

| 11. Yes, you have to remember Moore's comments in the context of "watch what |
|
you say, watch what you do" and the Dixie Chick dimestore McCarthyism.
Almost everyone was afraid to say anything, which is why MM deserves so much credit.

I was clapping, stomping, cheering and crying in my livingroom--I knew how bold and brave he was to say what he did--in that climate...so many were afraid after the Dixie Chicks. It was horrible and wrong.
I stopped speaking to someone for talking shit about the Dixie Chicks for speaking their truth.

| 15. Jon Stewart also put a cut at the MSM in his dialog |
|
true both clooney and stewarts were subtle, but they were made just the same, and the point made was not being afraid to present things that needed to be presented

| 17. So no cut to the sour look of Patricia Heaton...? Thankfully.. |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 09:48 PM by bliss_eternal
as I doubt she was invited to this party. I recall this was the case when Stewart made jabs at msm during his last hosting gig--was that the Emmy's last year?
Ms. Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) was sitting with her arms folded across her chest looking rather hostile and disgusted. :eyes: Whatever...she's in the minority in Hollywood...she'd do best to remember that and try to make nice. Raymond's no longer on the air, I doubt many offers for her are forthcoming.

|
so many awards doing 'Raymond'. She is not a good actress, so why did she win so much when there were many on TV who were? It just boggles my mind ...

Well, you missed George Clooney's terrific "Proud to be out of touch" speech -- a slam at fundies, racists and social regressives.

Always sorry to miss a celeb speaking out, from the heart.
As I mentioned above, the year shrub took us to war the only one that WOULD dare speak out at the Oscars was Michael Moore. Everyone else was afraid of being Dixie Chicked...
