Oscars.
Sucks, but that's the way it works. You'll note Darren McGavin and Dennis Weaver who died the same weekend were not mentioned either.

the others died last week and I doubt they had any tribute footage ready. It would have been nice if they'd mentioned them at least.

He was one of Disney's staple "family movie" actors of the 1960s/70s...

I don't know how old you are, but to those of us 40 and older, we do indeed remember him just as much for his film career as for his tv career.

|
The proceedings after John Ritter's death quickly became too out of control and too obviously phony.
ABC also said they wouldn't cancel "8 Simple Rules" and then move it to a Friday death slot, just before that utterly unoriginal and AWFUL 'hope and faith' show... :eyes: and 8 Simple Rules had me hooked, even before his demise.

He was included in the tribute on last year's show.
There must be a cut off date for preparing the tribute each year. No doubt Don Knotts, Darren McGavin, and Dennis Weaver will be included next year.

OK, I can understand not having footage ready for Don Knotts, Darren McGavin, or Dennis Weaver, but...
They had Chris Penn, but no John Spencer??
Spencer was in The Rock, Presumed Innocent, Black Rain, Sea of Love...
:wtf:
Maybe he wasn't a member of the Academy?

I recommend the movie Private Eyes to anyone who wants a good comedy mystery. You can't help but bust out laughing at the screen from some of the scenes.
