I first qualified to be on "Jeopardy!" back in 1997. After you qualify, you're on a waiting list for a year. If they don't call you during that time, you have to re-qualify. This is the second time I've qualified, and this time I made it.
I'm so psyched!

| 30. Well, they announce tryouts in a particular city; in this case, Seattle. |
|
You call the 1-800 number and they tell you when and where.
Both times, it was in a hotel conference room. There was a field of about eighty or so people. They have a timed quiz of about fifty general knowledge questions. They play a video of Alex presenting the questions just like on the show. You have about 8 seconds to answer each one before they move on to the next one. If you're lucky, or have a good memory, you might have enough time at the end to go back and answer any question you forgot first time around.
They score the papers by a standard they don't reveal. Then they call out the names of those who qualified, in this case, about nine people. Then they interview each contestant and host a mock-game between randomly selected contestants. They take a Polaroid photo of you for the file, and tell you that if you are selected, you will be called. If you aren't selected, you will not be called, and after a year, will have to re-qualify.
