The decades are the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s so far.
Here are my descriptions:
50s - innocent yet conformist
60s - turbulent and transforming
70s - bad fashion (otherwise nondescript except for Nixon's impeachment and economic troubles)
80s - la la land
90s - prosperous
00s (so far) - scary!

60's - Rock got good
70's - Rock even better! 80's - Yuppies, dirty Yuppies!
90's - Rock found itself
00's - Rock lost itself

Approximately Age 25 through 35: Adult, but not mature. Approximately Age 35 through 45: Worried about the future. Where's my flying car? Approximately Age 45 through 55: Guilty about everyone they stepped on to get their flying car. Approximately Age 55 through 65: Now where'd I put my wallet...
