Isaac Hayes' Quitting Controversy

Isaac Hayes did not quit "South Park." My sources say that someone quit it for him.

I can tell you that Hayes is in no position to have quit anything. Contrary to news reports, the great writer, singer and musician suffered a stroke on Jan. 17. At the time it was said that he was hospitalized and suffering from exhaustion.

It’s also absolutely ridiculous to think that Hayes, who loved playing Chef on "South Park," would suddenly turn against the show because they were poking fun at Scientology.

1. Anyone who thinks it's ridiculous to think that Hayes would turn against

the show because of their poking fun at Scientology doesn't know anything about Scientology. For example, if the Scientology higher-ups decided to declare Matt and Trey to be Suppressive Persons, Hayes would HAVE to leave the show, per "church" dogma.

If Issac Hayes had a stroke, it's the first I've heard of it. I have no reason to believe that isn't the truth, so who quit South Park on Hayes' behalf?

I remember hearing about Hayes' stroke and I thought that it might have made him more sensitive. Could be just as likely that he's incapacitated and that someone put out a statement for him.

I didn't see Hayes on television, just his alleged words in print. Did anyone else see him? I'm curious.

It would be a shame if Isaac Hayes ended up like Lisa Macpherson.

…very topic. I don't remember the exact wording, but the day after the original release of the "Scientology" episode, Hayes pointed out that you can't take that sort of thing personally with a show like this and that the show has made fun of virtually every religious view.

5. This isn't the first time

SP has poked fun at Scientology before. There was an interview with Hayes some time back where he said it bugged him because SP's creators obviously didn't "get" what Scientology was all about but he certainly wasn't talking about quitting or anything.

There's something out there even more bizarre than the scientology stuff. Get this, there's this bunch that says we all came from one man and one woman in a garden somewhere with a talking snake, then the whole world flooded and some guy built a boat and put two of all the animals on it, there's these people with wings that fly around, I think they call them angels and their deity's son died and then comes back to life just like the people in soap operas do after six months.
