quick question- Do you tip furniture delivery people?

I have some furniture coming tomorrow and I was wondering if it's customary to tip. For what it's worth they're no stairs or long walkways to my place.

1. If they work for a big chain it's probably not allowed.

With a smaller company it may be okay, you may want to call and ask in advance if the delivery drivers are permitted to accept tips.

so how much is appropriate for a futon mattress?

3. It's light, so if you're not in the boonies or anything it needn't be much

I'm thinking $5-10 although even just offering them some cold sodas out of the fridge if it's hot outside would probably be really appreciated.

5 bucks per person per piece of furniture carried up those many steps.
