There is some truth to that statement –we want a hot woman in glasses. However, I cant convince my wife that she looks great wearing glasses instead of contacts, which she prefers. The same with my ex-wife, who became a whole different person the rare times she broke out her glasses (as in, she thought she was a lot less attractive with glasses, and then acted accordingly)

Though working in the accounting & finance profession and seeing a lot of truly nerdy women in glasses (as well as hot women in glasses), I will say that I think the right set of glasses can make a plain woman look a lot prettier.

I'm pretty much a girly girl (short, very curvy, blonde, wears skirts and flowery things), but I wear glasses most of the time because wearing contacts too long irritates my eyes and I have 20/300 vision. However, it gives me nerd status because without my glasses, I don't look like a nerd at all.

But being obsessed with politics, science, lame trivia, and knowing plenty of sci-fi stuff, (not to mention my taste in men) I think I need the glasses to improve my "nerd cred" sometimes.
