Has anyone walked on hot coals doing a fire walk?

I found it an incredibly mind over matter thing. Has anyone else walked on hot coals?

I hope you didn't shell out a lot of cash to some kook for the "opportunity" to walk over hot coals. People like Tony Robbins include it in his expensive motivational package. As the poster above explained, the coals are not very good at conducting heat, which is why you can walk across them and not get burned. It's also for that reason that coals are always picked, and not, say, wood.

Physics also has an answer to the "lying on a bed of nails" trick. Again, not mind over matter. The nails are lined up on the bed in just the right way, so when you lay down on it, the distribution of your body weight is such that a nail does not puncture the skin.

And yes, I would do it.
