| Who does the best rendition of “Skylark” |
|
Skylark, have you anything to say to me? Can you tell me where my love may be? Is there a meadow in the mist where he's just waiting to be kissed?
Skylark, have you seen a valley green with spring where my heart can go a journeying over the shadows and the rain to a blossom covered lane?
And in your lonely flight have you heard the music? In the night, wonderful music. Faint as a will-o'-the-wisp, crazy as a loon, sad as a gypsy serenading the moon.
Music by Hoagy Carmichael, lyrics by Johnny Mercer. This song is a very lilting and haunting melody. When it is rendered well it is beautiful. Among those who I think does it well is Kd Lang, Ann Hampton with Cab Calloway. If you are a fan of this song as I am who do you think does it well?
With a little bourbon and branch the song is a smooth way to greet the hot summer night.

Question from a Nawtherner, what ta hell is "branch"? J.R. Ewing used to order it all the time on Dallas. I know what bourbon is, thank you.

| 7. Been to Dallas, but didn't drink any bourbon and branch. |

Never been to Muleshoe. Love that name, somebody brought it up in conversation earlier today. Funny to hear it again. Cue Twilight Zone theme music.
