SALT LAKE CITY -- Some parents plan weddings, others unplan them.
Authorities in Utah said parents Lemuel and Julia Redd of Provo, told their 21-year-old daughter they were taking her shopping back in August, a few days before her planned wedding.
Instead, they drove her 240 miles to Grand Junction, Colo. Investigators said they wouldn't release her until after the scheduled August wedding.
Their daughter, Julianna, eventually married fiance Perry Myers and authorities last week decided there was enough evidence to charge her parents with second-degree felony kidnapping.
Prosecutor Kay Bryson said 59-year-old Lemuel Redd, and 56-year-old Julia Redd are scheduled to make an initial court appearance Oct. 26. If convicted, the Redds could face up to 15 years in prison.
