Poll question: How will YOU deface the Reagan Dime?

The House GOP leadership has introduced a bill to take FDR's face off the dime -- where it has been since 1946, to commemorate FDR's support of the anti-Polio March of Dimes -- and to replace it with the smiling face of Ronald Reagan.

A number of people are making plans to circulate as many "artistically modified" dimes as they can. Do you plan to participate in this artistic "movement"? And, if so, how?

Remember, kids, it is illegal to alter currency so this would have to be considered an act of Civil Disobedience as well as a grave Terrorist Act under USA-PATRIOT (I and II). Which means that I won't be altering any currency. Because I believe in The Rule of Law. (And I don't mean Jude.)

It is illegal to alter a bill with the intent to defraud somebody, for example, cutting and pasting stuff onto a bill to fool somebody into thinking a $2 was a $20, or shaving precious metal off a coin (as was often done throughout history).

As far as I have been able to prove, there is no law against rubberstamping bills, like the people at http://www.wheresgeorge.com do, or engraving stuff into a coin, as the people who sell those pennies with the state outlines on them, or smooshing pennies, like you can do for $0.50 at any state-sponsored stop on the NY State Thruway.

FWIW, U.S. coins are not fully considered to be legal tender, that is, merchants are not required to accept them. Ask the last clown who took a pillowcase full of pennies to the DMV to pay a traffic fine if they let him do it.

feed my pit bull a lot of turkey, take it outside, let it take a big shit, place the dime in the dog shit, pull the dime out, take out another dime, and repeat the steps until I have a big bag of dimes. Then, I'd take the dimes, let the shit dry, alter it in all the ways stated above, then have my sister's cats piss in a large jug. After that, I'd place the currency in the piss-jug for a month, until the dimes are soaked with piss. Finally, I'd personally hand-deliver the altered currency to the College Republicans on my campus. Hopefully they'll get the message. :)
