Got home from school around 9:30 and was on the phone when I came through the door, so I didn't pay a lot of attention or really even look for Molly. I assumed she was in my daughter's room, as she spends a lot of time in there at night. So my daughter comes to me around 11 p.m. and asks if I have the cat in my room and, of course, I say nope, I thought she was with you. We start looking for her, calling her name and looking in her usual hiding places and nada... no Molly to be found anywere
Now this is a strictly indoor cat but, every now and then, she'll try to sneak past us and run outside. She never stays out there long, as she's not used to being out there and, especially with the cold weather right now, she's never too keen on being out there long. Of course, now I'm really freaking out because I'm thinking about the fact that I was so distracted when I came in and what if she ran by me and I didn't see her and, OH SHIT, she's going to freeze to death. :scared:
Long story short, I had to go pick up my fiance at work at 11:45 and I'm in tears and so is my daughter. She took off with a flashlight to look around the neighborhood for her and I'm thinking all sorts of horrible things... mostly involving her freezing to death or being eaten by a dog.
About ten minutes after I left, my daughter calls me crying and hysterical.... which I take as a bad thing. BUT, she's crying because she came home and there was Molly... standing in the middle of the living room, warm and dry and a bit confused as to why my daughter is so damn happy to see her. I still have NO clue where this cat was hiding the whole time we went insane looking for her but, fuck it, she's here and alive and that's all that matters.... damn rotten evil cat :D
