I'm just glad that a Democrat won the Caucus - I don't care who

Just sitting here reading all the piss and moan threads, and the uniquitous "Hey, buttheads, here's why Kerry IS DANGEROUS TO HUMANITY" threads...screw all that.

A democrat won the caucus. How much more do we need?

Every Dem candidate has black hole issues and danger zones - they're human beings. They all have wonderful ideas, too - they're Democrats.

I'm simply filled with glee tonight that the process happened and it worked and that EVERY ONE of the five people who have a chance of winning the nomination are ALL great in their own way and would ALL make excellent presidents.

I don't remember EVER being this excited by a group of candidates in the past. Tonight, I celebrate that the process worked, that we're still allowed to vote, and that instead of having to choose which one is least disastrous, I'm forced with having to decide which one is actually the most qualified. And it's a difficult choice.

I just checked out a bunch of posts by a handful of posters in GD2004 who claim that they will not vote Dem if Dean doesn't get the nod. THAT IS FUCKED. TRULY FUCKED.

4. It was a surprising outcome

I'm happy to see that Kerry and Edwards did so well, although I feel for the Dean and Gephart supporters tonight because it did seem like it was going to be closer that it was, and I appreciate their disappointment.

I'm with you - a democrat won the caucus, and the common goal is to replace Bush in November.

Edwards 32%
Dean 18%
Gephardt 11%
Kucinich 1%

Everyone else, zero percent.

About 125K - double the 2000 turnout

45% were first time attendees at a caucus, or first time voters, I'm not sure

21. Frankly, I'm thrilled by the caucus results

And not just because I clipped a few friends of mine in betting on the outcome.

The current Republicans brass isolates their best candidates and forces out the vulnerable weaklings, all across the country. Witness the exclusions of Fitzgerald in Illinois senate and Martz in Montana gov for 2004, plus influencing Katherine Harris not to run for Florida senate.

It's the only thing I truly admire admire about Rove and Co., brass balls to pick the best nominee and fund them from the start, eliminating primary bickering and waste of funds. Almost all their handpicked 2002 candidates prevailed.

Meanwhile, us fairminded, process-loyal Democrats eschew party influence and often let the locals isolate the one boob who couldn't win without a 10-point cheat. I would gleefully sign up for 8 years of Howard Dean right now, and certainly admire his loyalists, but every handicapping instinct screams to me that John Edwards is the ticket.

While I remain undecided on exactly who I'd prefer in the WH, as long as it is an anti-war Dem, I will sleep better.

I read some of JK's speeches dating back to before 9-11, and his position has been consistent. On reading some of those speeches carefully, I see that the media(suprise) and other opponents have taken phrases out of context to paint him as inconsistent.

Anyhoo - congrats to Dems, and right now, specifically "Comeback Kerry". :thumbsup:

I don't want to alienate those that support other Democratic candidates, but ANY Dem that can unseat the Texacutioner, and put the rest of the Republican WarMachine on the back bench sits ok with me!
