how many standing ovations there were in the SOTU last night?
Note: I did not count the ones at the beginning and the end.

And I thought I was watching it pretty closely. Unless I blacked out. Bush's monotonous tends to do that to me.
edit: or course, if you heard that on Fox news I'm sure they embellished it quite a bit.

Fox will report it that way. I swear that I heard booing last night when I turned it on for a second.

| 9. They clap at about every other word |
|
On the bright side, at least the speech did not have much substance to it that way. It's like it was written by the write from "Spider-man."

We had to institute a rule in the house.
You could only boo during applause. Of course, I was hoarse before Bush even started because the camera showed his ilk...Condi, Rummy, Cheney, etc.
BOOOOOO! HISS!

| 14. lets see - the "speech" was 54 minutes long |
|
. .
Dunno how many noticed that the speach STARTED at 9:11 - yup yup
And ended at 10:05 (is there a significance to 10:05?)
so I would take a guess around the 25 - 30 mark at the most
BUT - I'll tell ya what, there were TOO many !
and sorta demeans the "honor" of a standing ovation
- heck - I watched a few where they were obviously "on-cue"
