Compaq Presario Fanglers (or any laptop) - how to get inside?

I need to replace the keyboard on my Presario 1200 (12XL400) and I may also replace the MB because the PCMCIA slot is inop. I may buy another on on Ebay to use for parts.

I'm pretty good at getting inside stuff, and I build my own PCs, but I have never worked on a laptop before. Once I gingerly poked around to try to figure out how to get inside but when it was not immediately obvious my fear of screwing it up overcame my curiosity.

Any DU laptop experts around to guide a shadetree computer guy?
