A driver who crashed while traveling the wrong way down an Orange County road Tuesday was taken into custody after he attacked and began wildly spitting on everyone trying to help him, according to officers.
Detectives said two brothers witnessed the driver sideswiping a vehicle at Semoran and University in Orange County early Tuesday.
The pair rushed into to help the driver but were attacked by the crash victim, police said. During the attack, an off-duty deputy, who noticed the scene, came and shocked the man with a Taser gun.
"The guy started laughing when he got (hit was Taser)," witness Mark Chiampa said. "He was laughing on the ground and that is when I knew he was definitely not right."
After being shocked, the man then started spitting on the Good Samaritans, paramedics and other officers.
Emergency crews put a surgical mask over the driver's face and the man was transported to a hospital.
Troopers are checking into whether alcohol was involved in the crash.
