| Hee hee...Nebraska fired its Athletic Director! |

Buh-bye, Steve Pederson. Don't let the door hit ya on the ass on your way out.
Is the coaching staff next? *shakes magic 8-ball* ... all signs point to YES.
On the short list for AD replacement...none other than Tom Osborne. And if he's willing, you gotta believe that list is EXTREMELY short. As in, he's the only guy on it.
Obviously, Husker fans don't accept mediocrity. Or...whatever it is that has caused us to be a complete embarrassment 2 weeks running.
:woohoo:

I could see them going after Turner Gill at Buffalo.

although, honestly, Kevin Cosgrove needs to go first. And now. Our defense is rated 96th in the country. That's a total slap in the face, and it's obvious the guys aren't even trying anymore.

They just gave up. Not that I really want Nebraska to start winning again mind you. But I always did have a begrudging admiration for the Huskers, especially when Uncle Hayden droned on and on about why Iowa would never be able to be at the top of college football; cold weather, small population. Excuse me? Lincoln and Norman, Ok. aren't exactly tropical getaways. I never bought into his little diversion although many did.
But hey, my old high school conference gave you guys Trev Alberts. I understand why he went there and was glad he did good for you guys.

Well, I think we've got some serious work ahead of us before we're going to be winning with regularity again, so you've got some time left without us on the top of the polls.
Hayden really tried to float that as an excuse? Wow. Uh...yeah...Lincoln, Norman, and just generally, there are far more schools in crappy locations than in stellar ones. Not everyone has the recruiting advantages of USC. And if that's all it was about, the U. of Hawaii would be winning national championships left and right. ;)

I remember on one of his call-in shows on WHO (WGOP) in Dezzzzz Moynzzzzzzz. This was after one of his usual 8-3, 7-4 regular seasons. A woman caller had the audacity to ask Hayden when was he going to take Iowa to the next level, to seriously contend for the National Championship? That really set him off big time. He launched into this tirade about how Iowa would never get to that point due to being in a small state, bad weather. It was his mantra from then on. It was a convenient smokescreen to hide the fact that he was a master at turning programs around. But there was no way in hell he'd have Iowa contend for the National Championship in football year in year out. So that's when I knew he was full of shit. He even got so testy at people questioning him at one point he got Ron Gonder kicked off his play-by-play job @ WMT in Cedar Rapids. At that time there were several radio networks doing Iowa Football and poor Ron ended up asking Uncle Hayden the wrong question in a press conference and he went livid. I could tell Fry was a repug then due to his constant media bashing, not wanting any scrutiny at all. Helluva coach but a total degenerate personally.

We certainly haven't been thrilled with them anytime in the past 2 years, but until the recent meltdown, there were at least some signs of improvement.
The past 2 weeks have negated any progress, however, and made it quite clear that something is very amiss in the program.
That said, I don't entirely disagree with the "two years"...I'd even extend it to 10 years. No need for popcorn. ;)

this has been a CRAZY year already. There are very few teams that are in the position they want to be in, honestly.

Ohio State isn't a huge surprise, although if they're honest with themselves, I don't think they saw this year as a #1 sort of year.
BC is usually in the top 25, for at least part of the year, but...their ranking is a bit ridiculous.
And South Florida? You mean the people who didn't make it onto the team at Florida, Florida State or Miami?? That's a major :wtf: Do they even have any fans? ;)

I know several people who went to the school, and a lot of them didn't even know their team was doing so well.
