These are California times. The interview will be at 5:10 EST. Who is Nantz? http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/20040201-9999_mz1s1tv.htmlAmong the features planned (and the tentative time each will air):
11:35 a.m. - Simms breaks down film with Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher, whose Titans lost two close games to New England and routed Carolina.
Noon - Armen Keteyian (SDSU Class of '76) takes a look at the season through the eyes of two rookies, Baltimore's Kyle Boller and Terrell Suggs.
12:50 p.m. - On the one-year anniversary of the Columbia space shuttle disaster, Dick Enberg visits with some of the victims' families.
1 p.m. - A look behind the scenes with Panthers coach John Fox (SDSU Class of '77) as Carolina prepared for the Super Bowl.
1:25 p.m. - CBS News visits with U.S. troops in Baghdad, where it will be 12:25 a.m. Monday and most will be saying, "Are they ever going to start this game?"
1:30 p.m. - Marcus Allen (Lincoln High Class of '77) profiles Patriots running back Antowain Smith, who will be playing today in his hometown.
1:50 p.m. - Keteyian again, with the story of Esiason, Jim Kelly and Trent Dilfer, who are among several past and present NFL quarterbacks who have experienced family adversity.
2:10 p.m. - Nantz does a live interview with President Bush.
2:30 p.m. - Lesley Visser has a feature on Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme, including a visit with his family in Breaux Bridge, La.
2:40 p.m. - Marino interviews Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
2:45 - The heavy entertainment portion of the program begins with live performances by Willie Nelson, Toby Keith and Aerosmith.
3 p.m.: "SUPER BOWL KICKOFF SHOW" Feel the excitement - we're almost within a half-hour of kickoff. (Just think, it could be worse: You could have to wait until after 6 p.m. as they do in the East.) The pregame show continues with player introductions, the coin toss, a performance by Josh Groban in honor of Columbia and the national anthem, sung by Beyonc
3:25 p.m.: SUPER BOWL XXXVIII Kickoff between the Patriots (blue jerseys) and Panthers (white jerseys), with Gumbel calling his second Super Bowl and Simms his fifth. The sideline reporters are Bonnie Bernstein, who also will be contributing to the national radio broadcast, and Keteyian. Producer Mark Wolff and director Larry Cavolina are both working their second Super Bowl telecast.
HALFTIME: As in 2001, MTV again will produce the halftime show, which should begin between 4:45 and 5 p.m. Janet Jackson is the featured performer (it could have been worse; they could have picked one of her brothers) and she'll be joined by P. Diddy, Kid Rock and Nelly.

The game is scheduled to start at 5:25 CST, so it would be 4:10 CST when Chimpy's on. At least I know when to run screaming out of the living room.

If it's JIM Nantz, he was the L.A. CBS affiliate's sports guy for years, in the late '80s-early '90s. I think he started to fancy himself a news reporter after that, but I don't know where he went to do so.

"several past and present NFL quarterbacks who have experienced family adversity."
Oh, please. Who the hell hasn't?
GAWD. The NFL, the broadcast media, "journalists" (such as they are in broadcast media), etc. -- all take themselves way, way, WAY too seriously.

whatever happened to that idea ...
it's bad enough the bastards at CBS can squash public dissent by blocking the MoveOn ad, but how the hell do they get away with having shmuckface on without giving equal time for a democratic response ...
of course, if the dems were planning to offer us ding-dong daschle again, maybe we're better off without it ... how about 5 minutes apiece for kerry, edwards, dean and clark ...
cbs ... the christian broadcasting system ...
