I'm thinking Round Rock and 183 are both a bit far from the rally. never been to the one on 35 and Stassney.
As much as I love donuts, Kerbey Lane might be easier. :-(
This might be worth starting a thread about.

Chocolate-topped and custard-filled. MMM-donuts.
Dunkin will do if there are no Krispy Kremes to be found, but they're not as good. I miss Dawn Donuts, they were really good.

But, Donuts are Donuts. I love them both.

KK's raised donuts are better, but Dunkin's cake donuts are superior to Krispy's. The dough doesn't turn into a ball while one is chewing like KK's cake donuts.
I agree that DD does have the better coffee. KK's isn't bad, but it's not as good as Dunkin'. We have both around here, and i travel for my job, so i've had my share of each in the mornings. (I never eat breakfast at the hotel. Too expensive!)
I think it's a perfect combo that each place has a donut that's superior to the other. The Professor

|
The company was founded in North Carolina--in Winston-Salem, to be exact. So I've got TWO good reasons to vote for them. Plus, from my earliest days, I was weaned on Krispy Kreme doughnuts--Dunkin' didn't come along where I lived until I was starting Jr. High.
Moreover, Krispy Kreme is one of the very few stocks that is weathering this recession well--suffering NO significant declines during the last two years. I guess one could say that Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are, well, "Dub-proof"! :D

|
I spent years thinking, "Krispy Kremes totally suck" until one day, finally got to have a hot one - they are wonderful.
But man, once they cool, they're crap. Which means that any other coated or flavored Krispy Kreme is gonna suck, cuz they have to be cooled first. Which explains why I always thought they sucked. They do.
Dunkin DOnuts, though, always excellent and tasty.

When I was a kid, you could get a chocolate krispy kreme. I don't mean chocolate covered, I mean the BATTER was chocolate. Fantastic! I've not seen that for, um, more than 30 years I guess.
Oh, and they were a nickel. Or were they 2 cents? They were a DEAL!

I know I know! I guess I'm just a fan of the more "substantial" fare.
Krispy Kreme's are good, but they're too ephemeral (is that the right word?). Plus the first one is great, but the second one makes me sick
Dunkin' Donuts and most other doughnut shops are just too greasy for me.
Reminds me of one of the greatest lines in a "movie" ever. In "El Norte" Enrique is in the restaurant with another guy, and they're trying out croissants. The other guy says "They're pretty good. Not filling like a tortilla, but not bad"

|
I don't eat doughnuts often, but I stopped at a german bakery in Castroville one day last fall about the same time the first Krispy Kreme opened in San Antonio (where I live). I got to try the Krispy Kremes a couple weeks later and realized that, while they are perfectly good, the ones from Castroville were significantly better.
:-)
Haven't had Dunkin Donuts in many many years, so I can't comment on them at this time.

They invaded my state first with one store which caused all the fundies to go nuts. Do they serve those damn things for communion? Anyway, the fundies actually take orders for these god fearing donuts, drive up to 50 miles away to get the doughballs, bring them back and hawk them out of the backs of their suburbans. I mean really.
Now we have our own store. Result? Three local family bakeries one at least 100 years old close their doors unable to compete with some cheap corporate lardball supplied to us by a company 3000 miles away.
Glory hallelujah! The Krispy Kreme rapture has come! Bleech!

Not much beats a HOT and NOW from Krispy Kreme. I like Dunkin Donuts cake donuts, but I wish they'd use granulated sugar with the cinammon donuts instead of powdered, which overwhelms the cinammon and makes the donut too darn sweet.
