In the U.K., we saw lots of it from the trains. It's truly a gorgeous plant! http://www.biodiesel.de/index.php3?hid=01499&spid=2

|
"Canola" cleaned it up nicely.
"Chilean sea bass" sounds tastier than Patagonian toothfish too. ;)

Rapeseed oil used to mostly be a lubricant, and it was indeed genetically modified. But that was done by selective breeding to remove harsh chemicals, not by gene splicing. This modified version is Canola: Canadian Oil, Low Acid.

It looks much better full-sized, but it's too big for DU rules.

| 21. It does not seem possible to find non gmo contaminated canola in N. America |
|
Canola or rapeseed is wind pollinated and thus all of it seems to have been contaminated. I avoid it like I avoid any soy products not from Japan where gmo's are forbidden. Corn oil is also lost. Safflower and sunflower oils are about the only safe veggie oils. Olive oil is still safe.
The English have clean rapeseed still as does the rest of Europe.
