Goddamn Levis!

Over the past six months my old jeans started wearing thin. I've always bought Levis because I liked their durability and the fact that they were made in the US. A pair generally lasted years, hell, I still have a pair that I use in the garden(the knees blew out, but are otherwise fine). So I went and bought three new pairs, stretched out over the past six months.

But goddamn it, the last of these new pairs ripped this morning, blew out the crotch(I know, I know, insert tasteless joke here:evilgrin:). Every single new pair has shredded in one way or another. I figured it out, all of the Levis are being made overseas, the quality has gone downhill in a dramatic way.

So that's it, Levis just lost a customer. Does anybody have any recommendations for good, durable, preferably American made jeans? I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Oh, and don't by any Levis anymore, they aren't worth it.

are the ONLY jeans I wear, specifically 501 button fly.

Here is what I'm thinking-- YOU are just flat out tough on pants! I'll bet that you'll have problems with ANY brand you buy. Buy a pair of Wranglers and see what happens. If they rip, go back to Levi's.

5. I admit, I'm tough on clothes

But I've gotten great wear from Levis for a long while now. Like I said earlier, I have a pair of Levis for ten years, and the only problem is that the knees went, which is why they're on garden duty right now.

I really do think that it is more a problem with quality control. I've never had a problem with any clothes ripping apart within six months before, yet all three pairs of my new jeans have just shredded.

I'm going to try a few different brands and see what happens.

2. I'm finding that all jeans wear out faster than they used to.

The bottom edges fray quickly and the corners of the back pockets rip out.
I haven't found much difference in any of the brands.

6. That's depressing

I really wish that they would start making jeans out of hemp, much more durable than cotton is.

3. I started having that problem years ago with Levi's,

and ended up just going to different Levi styles that fit me more comfortably. It's really not a case of "getting fat" - I wore a size 29" or 30" waist when I was in high school, and now at age 43, wear a size 31" waist. I couldn't wear 501s today in my proper waist size for a million bucks - it would be absolute torture of the "groinial area"!

I'm currently wearing three different pairs of Levi's amongst my collection of jeans - Loose Carpenters, Loose Straight 569s, and Baggy Silver Tabs. They all fit comfortably, and they've held up through repeated washings, so I think it's more a case of a poor fit resulting from "anatomical changes" rather than quality going down the crapper...

4. SCHMIDT at Tractor Supply.

I don't know if they're American Made, but they wear well, and they cost half of what Levis cost (usually about $12/pair).

7. Mine have all worn through in the crotch.

Never used to happen with Levi's, but for many years now, they're seriously weak.

8. Eddie Bauer jeans ain't bad...

Don't know if they're American made,but they do hold up longer than Levi's.

Levi's only saving grace to me is that I can but them for $20 at target.
