Uh oh.
I was elected alderman les than 72 hours ago, and now I see this in one of the local papers:
Hardly a week goes by in Manchester without one of the city’s police officers getting bruised or banged up while attempting to subdue and handcuff an overaggressive criminal suspect. Police believe that one way to reduce these dangerous confrontations is to employ the use of electric tasers.
On Wednesday, Nov. 7, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen appeared ready to authorize the police department to purchase 30 tasers. But the issue was tabled to allow police officials time to come up with an exact cost estimate for purchasing the tasers and training 125 officers on the proper use of the crime-fighting tool.
