That seems to be the old reliable sign. Well, except for me, but even hugely engorged with milk I was an A cup (the roundest, firmest A cup ever, but still not the most impressive display of mammalian features ever,) so I probably didn't notice.

that's the good thing about having regular periods. Not only was my period late, but I was exhausted, constantly thirsty, and my breasts were extremely tender. It was pretty obvious for me.
Motherhood rocks. Pregnancy, not so much.

|
I'd been pregnant before (history of miscarriage in a previous relationship- for a few different reasons I think he had genetic issues) and had always thrown up like mad, so with irregular cycles the lack of a monthly visitor wasn't much of a hint, and I wasn't puking, so by the time I clued in it was rather obvious and inescapable. I think I'd have figured it out sooner if I was trying and looking for symptoms.
My pregnancy went extra innings to make up for it though. x(

I don't think it's odd at all to not know.
Sometimes our minds play tricks on us.
"We see what we want to see and we hear what we want to hear." ("The Pointless Forest" movie)
I'm glad you finally figured it out and you have no reason to feel foolish.
Hell; I was 34 and didn't know I was pregnant for 11 weeks!!
It happens!

|
So I was on the outlook for all the early, presumptive signs...
Frequent peeing...
Breast tenderness...
And like that...
Oh yeah, no period...I was VERY regular in those days!
I knew pretty much a week after my period didn't show up...
This was in the late 1960's...no pregnancy kits in the drugstore yet...
I had to go to the doctor to even have some presumptive idea...
He said my cervix was blue...and that was a pretty good sign!
I miscarried that first one, at nine weeks...
But six weeks later I was pregnant again...and she's 41 now!
And my baby is 35...
I always knew very early!
:woohoo:

Not because I had any prescient "feelings" or anything, but because I'd been planning on getting dead drunk one night and since Eric (the Evil Ex) and I had been going at it bareback like bunnies on meth for the previous two months, I figured I'd better go get one of those El Cheapo Family Dollar home pregnancy tests before getting myself sloshed, 'cause Bacardi 151 isn't exactly good for a baby. ;)
Imagine my utter shock when what *I* thought was going to be a "pee-perfunctorily-on-the-stick-then-go-get-wasted" evening turned into a "holy-screeching-mother-of-Cthulhu-I'm-PREGNANT" evening.
I still have that pregnancy test, actually--I taped it into Brendan's baby book. I cost me four bucks at the Family Dollar, and it detected my pregnancy at roughly 4 weeks gestation--as good or better than the expensive name brands. :)

Me and the ex (he wasn't ex then, but I was about 3 days from breaking up with him, stayed together for another year because I'm dumb) did the deed on March 11, 2000 after getting heinously drunk at a birthday party. On March 23 I decided somthing just wasn't right, and decided to wait the 4 days to my period. It didn't show, I peed on the stick (where the line showed up way to fucking fast) I said Ohhhhhhhh fuuuuuucccckkkkkkkk!!!
The result can be seen below.

I knew about 3 or 4 days before my period was due. The big clue? If someone even stared hard at my boobs, they HURT!
Waited until period due date, peed on a stick, BINGO!

Although we never calculated the conception date, it was in the first month. I missed one Aunt Flo and went "Hmm..." even though hormone problems meant I had missed plenty of Aunt Flos in the past. This one was just different somehow. We had met after work for dinner, so I said I had to stop for a couple of things at the grocery store, and Mr. MG drove home while I picked up a pregnancy test. I didn't want to alarm him, I snuck up to the bathroom and peed on the stick.
First reaction: "No...fucking...way."
But...way.
Then I spent days fussing because I had had a glass of wine with dinner that night, before I found out--OMG the kid is going to have fetal alcohol syndrome!!! :eyes: (He's fine, BTW--a mini-genius at 4.)

Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 04:12 PM by Left Is Write
The first time, it was when the doctor told me why I wasn't feeling well.
Other times, I knew because I was late a day or two.
Other times, I knew before I was late because I was expecting to be pregnant and hyper-clued-in to the symptoms.
I have plenty of experience with this. I have been pregnant 7 times (3 live births).

when I thought my period might be late. When it was positive, my first thought was "so that's why I've been taking so many naps lately!!". I'm not normally a napper, but when I'm pregnant I can sleep anytime, anywhere.
