This reality show looks like a train wreck you can't help but watch: Celebrity Rehab

VH1 has crossed the ultimate line with putting something like 10 addicts including Daniel Baldwin, Mary Carey (the repuke porn star), Brigette Nelson, Chyna Doll, Jeff Conaway and a host of other addicts into rehab together. I guess they'll even show these celeb detoxing.

I can think of a dozen different reasons as to why we should not watch this show - but damnit, I'm hooked and I've only see the 10 minute teaser they showed on VH1 last night.

1. Jeff Conaway is really messed up

I saw him flame-out on Celebrity Fit Club. :wow: I hope he gets the help he needs.

2. First requirement of getting help...

...is admitting you have a problem. Don't think Conaway is there quite yet. His breakdown on Fit Club was awful (but not nearly as bad as watching Danny Bonaduce lose it on his reality show). This show should be interesting. Dr. Drew is generally pretty level-headed with a lot of common sense...remember him from his days of playing straight man to Adam Carolla on the MTV sex-question show, the name of which escapes me right now...Loveline, or something like that?

5. I remember Dr. Drew when he was on radio with The Poor Man

KROQ, Los Angeles, the radio version of Loveline that dumped the dj known as The Poor Man when it became a TV show.

6. This doesn't sit right with me.

And it's probably because I'm too close to the issue. But I think this kind of recovery work should be done behind closed doors...no transcripts, no cameras. And I woulda thought, from listening to Dr. Drew over the years, that he would agree. I should probably reserve judgment as it hasn't even aired yet and I've only seen the 15 second promo. I can't see myself watching this show, though. I think in order to witness this kind of stuff one should be participating. But that's my hangup, not anyone else's.
