Shit, I'm not even interested in Fashion Week... but this is ridiculous. Just because you don't understand something, just because it's provocative, just because it's seemingly frivolous; that doesn't mean it's unworthy. And if you think so, you clearly have no idea what the fuck you're on about.

After all, clothing -- even if it looks like a goddamned harlequin bunny -- is a hell of a lot LESS frivolous than a painting or a sculpture. At least it's got some use.

I just have a problem with the plethora of threads ridiculing the very existence of Fashion Week. I don't see the same antipathy toward music, sculpture, painting, et. al.

Of course, I do see the same attitude toward television and sports; the notion that just because something isn't 100% about the WAR! 24/7, it must be a completely irrelevant "distraction," but come on. If some self-involved, humorless killjoy can't find any way to take enjoyment out of life, they've made their own prison.

29. i went into an art museum once

in the modern art section i saw a painting that was literally a blank canvas with one red dot in the middle, and sorry, but yes i don't see that as art. HOWEVER, i think art is a relative term. to each person art is something different. to each person their expectations in what is considered art is different. what is why we have so many types of art and such a diverse list of art types.

I think the mere fact that it was thought of by the artist and presumably the curators of the museum qualifies it as art. But if someone told them you had to like it because of that, you could then laugh dismissively at them.
