It's not every day I end up in a poll :hi:

I'm generally against instant replay because I'm a bit of a purist and games are long enough...however it did piss me off royally when a Carlos Delgado home run was overturned when the ump was convinced by *Derek Jeter* that it wasn't. But the Stanks got a home run taken away from them a few days later so baseball karma always works out in the end

Interleague play, the DH and night games...so I'm not a fan of change in baseball :P

I thought interleague play was interesting at first, but at this point it's pretty old hat. I don't like the DH, but I do like night games.

But I love the new playoff format. Wild cards are exciting. The more baseball in October the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I think interleague has outlived it's usefulness. I can live with 6 games versus your natural AL rival such as Sox vs Cubss, Oakland vs San Fran, Mets vs Yankees etc but I have no desire to watch my team play Texas, I'd rather have more games with non-division NL teams.

I'd hate for two teams from the same division to win 100 games, but one gets left out of the playoffs.

I also want to see umpires suspended or fined once they hit a certain number of bad calls.

I know it might slow up the game, but it's not as if the game isn't already slow. I'd rather have "a bit slower and properly officiated" than "slow and questionable."

I am for instant reply with home runs and fan interference. Those usually can be clearly determined by replay..too much and it will really slow the game down.

I am also against the DH and the split from four divisions to six and the all-star-game-winner-determines-WS-home-field-advantage.

The one innovation I do not like is interleague play. Prior to interleague play, there was always a sense of intrigue when the World Series came around. You saw a team playing in another league's ballpark and you knoew it was something special and out of the ordinary. Interleague play killed that special feeling.

Although, I will admit interleague play does allow me to gloat to turtlensue when a certain team beats another certain team from 40 miles south....

I've heard that the proposal is to use it for HR questions only, but there's no way it will stay that way. Before long people will demand that it be used on stolen base close calls (for one example) and they'll argue, "We already have the replay, let's use it!" And then it will be used for something else, and something else, and pretty soon a baseball game will take two days to complete. The game is already slow enough.

If I could add anything (and I know you weren't asking :) ) I would add a pitch clock.

I'm actually getting ready to write a column about this subject.

I'd say no, but

if it is implemented, I'd hope it'd be only for fair/foul calls in the outfield, disputed homers and maybe outfield traps — calls that umpires often aren't close enough to accurately make, especially during the regular season. I'm absolutely, adamantly against it for ball/strike and safe/out calls, hit by pitch, balks, interference, etc.

I also think the number of appeals should be limited and/or there should be some sort of penalty for an appeal that isn't upheld, but one that wouldn't affect scoring — like losing a trip to the mound or something.
