She is totally unreasonable with no conception of the real world. She is completely hysterical when it comes to immigration. Does she really expect that poor people from Latin America looking to make a living for themselves are going to be able to stand in lines, fill out forms and sit on visa waiting lists so that American conservatives can be satisfied that they are coming to America "legally"? Please. The overwhelming majority of immigrants coming to this country, "legall" or "illegallY" are doing so in the name of self-preservation and to make a better life for themselves. To deny this is just un-American.

...over the phone. She was quite nice and the interview took 15 minutes. Malkin only used one sentence of mine after fifteen minutes of talk, but it's one of the few columns she's done that I agree with.

15. MIchelle Malkin - What a study in contrasts!

Though I've never met her in person, Michelle is one of a very few media personalities that I've ever been on a first-name basis with. She was a columnist with the Seattle Times, and I used to participate in a political e-mail list her husband (a Libertarian, I believe) ran. (If I remember correctly, her husband went to school with another local reporter who I corresponded with - until she framed a teacher who later committed suicide.)

I was never really crazy about her writing style, but she was perhaps the best columnist in Seattle, because she wasn't afraid to tell it like it is. I'm aware of no other mainstream media columnist who described local corporate whores and "pimps." She was also one of the few who took on the "Education Mafia."

She wrote two columns that, in my opinion, are simply sensational. One is her farewell column in the Seattle Times. It's very philosophical and can be applied to America in general, not just Seattle. You can track it down in the Seattle Times' archives.

After she left the Times and became a syndicated columnist, she wrote a piece about Settle's World Trade Organization protest that blew me away. She summed it all up with her first sentenced, which ended with, "it couldn't have happened to a more deserving city."

The Times printed it, but bastardized the title. As I recall, they also said it was insulting pieces like that that prompted them to dismiss her.

Michelle even mentioned me on her website. Type "Michelle Malkin" and "David Blomstrom" into Google, to see if it's still there.

Unfortunately, Seattle's finest really went downhill after she became syndicated. I read several of her pieces, and I was embarrassed for her. They really sounded as if Republicans were stuffing money into her hands even as she typed.

It's very sad. She had so much potential.

I've been reading a few of her columns at her website. Some of them are real good, particularly the one about Gwyenth Paltrow, but overall she comes across as another foaming at the mouth conservative.



p.s. Is it just me or are all conservative pundits like that. The "nicest" conservative commentator I've seen is Laura Ingraham and that ain't saying much

Her ideals are quite a turn-off though.

It's not just that she's a conservative though. I've dated girls who were fairly conservative before, and it was no big deal to me. Malkin's attitude towards immigration though, tends to make my blood boil. Her piece on that illegal-immigrant family with the daughter in need of a transplant, was downright cruel and evil! THAT, I couldn't tolerate.

I'll give her this though, she does seem intellectually honest, and is willing to call out her own, when she she's something wrong (for instance, when John R. Lott was outed as the nutjob he is, she called him on it).
