For overall quality, that one takes the prize. Tons of laughs, great production values, fine script, and a great cast.

The channel AMC puts on a "Screen on the Green" series each Summer here in Atlanta. A few years ago they played "Young Frankenstein" out in Piedmont Park, and it was a real treat to see this movie on the big screen, in the park, under the stars, with a thousand or so fellow fans. Cloris Leachman came and spoke to the audience before the movie, and she shared memories about how much fun it was to make this movie (she even said that Mel Gibson was like a "Jewish mother" to the rest of the cast and crew). After that, my friends and I watched the movie, and laughed out loud at each of the jokes like we had never seen the movie before.

Good times. :)

I really hope you mean Mel Brooks, I can't picture Mel Gibson as a "Jewish mother" given his particular prejudices.

so for me it was a toss up between Spaceballs and Blazing Saddles.

Brooks' best, by far, IMO and a comedy classic.

Amazing casting. Just an incredible cast and they all do their best work in this film.

18. Brooks was not intended by God to make movies...

...he's a TV sketch artist who found his level of incompetency in movie-making. Yes, his films can be gut-wrenchingly funny, especially *The Producers*...but let's face it--"Springtime for Hitler" should have been a sketch on *The Mel Brooks Show*, not part of a movie...
