We aren't. 42 cents for postage. Plus the card cost. Sorry. No can do.
We'll probably do e-cards.

And I'm hoping everybody is as senile as me because I found a whole pile of old ones (lots of different years, a few of each design) and I am planing to reduce, reuse, recycle!
Last year I designed and printed some from a photo I took, this year it will just have to be "crap"

|
Mostly people we corresponded with once a year, only at Christmas. And she kept a cache of 'last minute' cards for folks who sent us one that we hadn't sent one that year.
Humbug.
50-60 cards at a minimal buck a piece, plus the postage = $85! NO. WAY.

Not much family out of the area. Two of my aunts get one (the other two aren't worth the stamp.) flvegan gets one in the box with his gift. My best friend in W. VA gets one. I might send a few out to DUers.
So the cost is pretty minimal.

...and I have to buy stamps anyway, so I will send the cards to the people who are most likely to care if they get a card from me or not. The rest, maybe ecards or a simple email.

| 9. Funny Christmas card true story. |
|
The first year we were married Miz t. ordered cards imprinted with her 'new' last name. It's "Lambard".
She made a slight error in her order, and the cards came with the name Lamlard printed on them.
"No sweat", she said. "I can change them. I'll make the "l" into a "b". And she did. She very carefully traced over each card so that they now read "Bamlard". I DO love this woman.

On the one hand, I usually intend to send cards but never get around to it.
On the other hand, I have more time this year (I think).
And we have MG Jr's first class pictures to send out.
On the other hand, who in the hell wants a school picture of my kid? I mean, what happens when you send them? People don't really save them, do they? Or do they keep them around for a few weeks out of courtesy and then throw them out? I know I never knew what to do with the goofy school pics my friends sent of their spawn.
On the OTHER hand, although we got one of the smallest picture packages, we still ended up with a kabillion wallet-size photos that we have no idea what to do with, so in the interest of not being wasteful, we really should give them away to SOMEbody.
That's a lot of hands. And I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do.

|
We get them, usually in Christmas cards, from nieces and nephews, cousins and distant cousins.
And we look at them and say "Hunh. So that what Jasper looks like now? What's with his HAIR? How old is he, anyway? 7? 8? That's Neeta's kid, right? Is he their first or second?"
And they usually wind up somewhere in the bottom of the junk drawer in the kitchen under a corkscrew and a screwdriver.
Many years later they wind up in a 'dead storage' cabinet. Because you can't just throw them away. :-(

Yup, I always send them...
ALWAYS.
A digital pic to my printer guy, and he does the whole thing...
I just sign them, stick them in the envelope, put on the stamp and the address label (my husband prints those) and into the mail...
They really are sort of my contribution to the world of art...
If you want, let me know your address and I'll send you one!
Lots of my friends don't send them...
I don't care...I send 'em one anyway!

I am that one-off friend who never sends stuff when it might be expected, ie holiday/birthday/occasion cards, but who will send something wicked cool every once in a blue moon for no particular reason other than I stumbled onto it and it just screamed "YOU!" to me.

I do email cards.
Never got into the habit of sending cards.
We have received only 10 or 12 so far, in past years we would have received over 100 cards.

Usually, MrSG makes them, and then we send them out.
We don't have a huge list, so it's usually doable.

It used to be that I was too busy at Xmas because I was a postal worker and then after I quit it just seemed pointless. I did get portraits done of me and my kids and had them made into cards but then my dad was diagnosed with cancer and I was too busy to send them out. I still have them all sitting in a drawer.
