Nothing ever seems to come easily or go smoothly.
Do you ever feel like Sisyphus? Back story -
In January of 2007, I became aware of a discrepancy in my paycheck. Turns out my employer had illegally frozen my pay at the previous contract's rate. They had a (poor) argument that it was because of the position I held though nothing in our union contract stipulated such.
I filed a grievance and over the course of the next 8 months, negotiations went on while I and one other employee in the same situation continued to work for a dollar an hour less than all other employees of my rate.
Last August, the company finally agreed to pay me my proper rate but still owed me retroactive pay which they also agreed to pay.
I have now been waiting almost as long for the retro as I did to reconcile the original dispute. My co-worker got her retro check last week. I did not. Apparently I was "overlooked."
For over a year now, I have had to think about this every single damn day. It is so frustrating. After my 9000th call to the union yesterday, it seems that a check will be issued this week which will be a relief. But right now, I'm sick, I'm tired, and I'm so sick and tired of having to deal with this crap.
That is all.

| 1. Did they really think that you wouldn't notice? |
|
Or that, if you did notice, you would be too intimidated or something to pursue the money you were owed?
:grr:
There is no reasonable explanation for any company to pull shit like that.

And I think they bank on people giving up when they set up obstacle after obstacle. They think they are going to wear you down.
It's such bullshit. They own me all of about $2000, a drop in the bucket for them but a lot of money for me. On the other hand, I make a ton of money for them - I run the most lucrative wine and liquor department in the district (at least 110 stores) and am acknowledged to be the best liquor manager they have.
Strange way to show appreciation, huh?
But, on a totally different note, it's nice to see you, Thom! :loveya:
