Anybody know about the rise in the cost of CDs compared to cost of living?

Anybody know about the rise in the cost of CDs compared to cost of living?
Some of my students want to interview me about the Pirate Bay trial and such, and it got me to thinking about the high cost of CDs. I've been trying to find information about their price as it relates to the cost of living (for example, a lot of chain stores used to sell CDs for almost $20 on a pretty regular basis). Anybody know about such things, or where I might be able to find this info? Thanks!
