Pet emergency! Help!

My cat bit into a paint tube and we're not sure if it's non-toxic or what kind of paint. (We think it's oil based.) She got it all over herself AND the carpet. She also ingested some. We already went all over town looking for cat shampoo with no luck, except at Wal-greens where they had anti-flee and tick shampoo that's deep cleaning. But it's all around her mouth and we decided that wouldn't be good for her since it says to keep away from eyes etc. We also called the vet and it'd take $60 to just talk to a pet poison control place.

So, my question is, could we use regular shampoo, or should we get the cat shampoo at Wal-greens? We have herbal essence and head and shoulders shampoo...

1. I would use baby shampoo...

you can find it in any grocery store and it's very mild. Good luck!

2. Cats have extremely sensitive skin.

Use the cat shampoo if you can, but ffs, get the paint off because I'm sure it's worse for the cat than whatever relatively mild shampoo you can scrounge up on short notice.

3. Call the poison control center

They may have advice even for a pet.

4. This might sound weird, but try vegetable oil...

then, once the paint is gone, use the shampoo to clean up the vegetable oil.

Any kind will do...olive, canola, corn...

Soap just made the oil-based paint sticky. Olive oil made it come right off, using an old rag towel.

7. You can use tearless baby shampoo for the face if need be.

If possible, use cat specific shampoo for the rest of her.

Look for a caution label on the paint tube.

DO NOT use Herbal Essence or Head and Shoulders for any reason on your cat.
