| So yesterday I had oral surgery... |
|
woohoo. ouch.
got a chunk of gum ripped from the roof of my mouth and stapled to area below my front bottom teeth.
I believe I have a fairly high threshold of pain, but man, this is a whole new experience for me. Aching is not a word I use lightly.
I think the best part was when the doctor gave me the shot in the roof of my mouth. The best way I can describe it is a blossom of pain. Aside from it being uniquely painful, it was a little fascinating feeling the pain/anesthesia spread.
Now, I'm recovering. There is a certain logic to pain meds. Wonderful comes to mind. LOL
Not looking for sympathy, just letting folks know who haven't had a gum graft done and are considering it. I'm glad to have it done. (otherwise I may lose one of my front teeth). It's a pain in the...mouth, but if all goes well, I will keep my tooth for a long time.
One interesting side note: it's amazing what one can get away with when one isn't allowed to talk due to stitches.
Cheers!

Ripped....stapled?
Just reading those words hurts!
Hope your drugs keep on helping you...
And I'm sure I join you in hoping that your gum graft works!

| 3. Roof of mouth injections are big hunks of hell. |

My dentist told me it's pressure pain, nowhere for the liquid to go or to be absorbed.
Do what the doc told you and get well soon. Fortunately, mouth tissue heals quickly.

Doc and tech had to crowbar me off the ceiling light fixture and anesthetized me with a ball bat before they could get that honking needle in.
I salute your grace under pressure.
