| Breyers LACTOSE FREE Ice Cream- do you like it? |
|
I like it a lot being lactose intolerant. Tastes just like regular vanilla.

I didn't know they had lactose intolerant. Does it have any milk products, like casein, in it? I'm considering giving up dairy altogether.
On edit: Nevermind. That was a really stupid question. Of course it has milk in it, duh.

Tolerance issues aside, lactose can be a problem in ice cream leading to poor texture.
Most grocery store freezers have a cycle some time in the middle of the night where it turns off for a half hour or so. Not surprisingly the stuff inside warms up a little bit, with the stuff closest to the door sometimes getting close to melting. (I always pick my ice cream & other frozen things from the middle of the freezer, never the box right by the door...) After a bunch of these freeze/thaw cycles, the lactose forms little crystals which gives ice cream an undesirable sandy texture... so removing the lactose can only be a good thing!
