Have you ever had to reach for the barf bag? Do you still suffer from it?

Oh. that's not the poll.
Reading in the back of a station wagon on a winding mountain road. Very hot, three younger brothers in close proximity and the cloying smell of pine trees....excuse me :puke:

at around 12 y/o. Didn't get actually sick but I damn sure wanted to!
since then, there has been a time or two where riding in a back seat has made my stomach flip a little, but nothing major.

I feel horrible -- as if my enthralls are going to fly out of my ears. I could NEVER be an astronaut -- 5 minutes after the rockets were turned off and we went into orbit, I'd have a heart attack or an aneurysm or something.
I'll ride on pretty extreme contraptions on amusement parks, but don't ask me to fall -- rollercoasters, bungee jumping etc.

Can't even ride in the passenger seat, let alone the back seat. Cab rides are a race: can the cabby get me there before I blow? I can barely stand the bus. I always get sick, but trained myself as a teenager not to barf. The Metro doesn't bother me too much, and when I was riding it every day I actually learned to read. That was a major feat.
Planes? I only got sick on one plane ride, and that was when we had 45 minutes of storm-surfing coming into BWI. The entire cabin cheered wildly when we touched down, and I think I got color back in my skin after we had been home for a couple of days. But I didn't barf then, either. Will power, I think.

Amusement rides, car trips, boats -- I especially like it when the sea is choppy! -- are all great thrills for me. :D I love getting bounced around. :bounce:
The only time I experience nausea is within the context of illness. That has happened exactly 3 times in my life.
My sister does suffer from it, and I've heard that having been pregnant women still are more susecptible afterwards.
My sister says been able to see the horizon, and focus on it, really helps her.

| 10. How many times have I barfed? Let me count the ways! |
|
I'm so glad I'm not the only one cursed with a sensitive stomach! I've barfed on a ferry going from Wales to Ireland; I've barfed on my sister in the car in the Bay Area; I've barfed on the steps of Hopewell Furnace in eastern PA (while I still lived in the flatlands of Kansas and was visiting a friend)...thank God for Dramamine! I was carsick for 2 weeks after we moved from Kansas to Pittsburgh - fortunately I finally adjusted to the curving, hilly roads, but it sure wasn't easy!

and it was worst during pregnancy. I think feminine hormones are involved - in the responses in this thread it looks like all sufferers are women.
