| Examples where the movie is better than the book? |
|
This question is certainly harder than which books are better than their movie counterparts (as this is not uncommon).
Some that I can think of offhand are Bridget Jones Diary, Under the Tuscan Sun, and Princess Diaries (not to say that is a good movie, but the book is worse!)
What can you think of?

The movie of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a bastardization of one of the great novels of the 20th century. Ken Kesey hated the movie version. I can't believe anyone would actually think the movie is better than the book.

| 10. I remember being grossly disappointed when I read the book years later |

I've heard a lot of noise about Spielberg changing the ending, and to that I say "phooey!"
A terrific film.

| 5. In my experience. the best example of this would be "Blade Runner". |
|
The film was an epic masterwork.
The "Book" (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) was nothing but a well-conceived short story crudely padded out to novella-length at the insistent behest of a greedy publishing firm that the author was contractually obligated to.
Compared to the film, the book looks like a few notes scrawled on a gin-stained coctail napkin at 3:00AM.

-having to read Ayn Rand is painful. The film isn't too good, but at least there's Patricia Neal; she was pretty hot (in 1949).

Saw the film first, and loved it. Then I read the story, and just couldn't get into it.
