| Yer in America, at least make the effort |
|
This is like the fifth time the sub shop I order lunch from, all the time, put mayo on my sub instead of mustard like I asked for. They know I hate mayo, they know I never put it on anything. I don't even order tuna subs.
Not only the mayo, I ask for orange soda, grape soda or Sprite, and the guy shows up with diet Coke. I get slaw instead of rice, salad instead of fries, ranch dressing instead of bleu cheese.
Sometimes the guy on the phone is so language challenged, I don't know if he's hearing me or humoring me. People should at least make the effort to understand the language, and make an attempt to speak it well.
I'm gonna buy some bread and meat and start bringing lunch in. Cheaper and less aggravating.

"a reason to go elsewhere". Seriously. I think it has less to do with any language barrier than an inconsideration on the part of management to simply be able to offer good service.
ESL is a nice hot-button topic, but I think in this case you just need to avoid the stress. :)

is simply to be a drone while making someone else rich why should you take pride in it?
the industrial revolution, mass production, and the commodification of everything has removed people from any sense of connection, and rightly so.
back in the days when people were artisans and craftspeople they had a connection to their work, not anymore.

When you're a drone you only work hard enough to not get fired.
on edit: Also, a lot of jobs aren't even in America anymore. Columbia House apparently outsourced its phone staff to Jamaica, I called in a couple times to fix a billing problem for my mother and I have yet to speak with anyone there that doesn't sound like Bob Marley.

That was back when we respected working people -- no matter *what* job they were doing.

No matter where I go.
Even as a non-sequitor, how are we supposed to help people if they don't try to assimilate at least a little bit?
I'm not saying dress up like Uncle Sam and sing I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy, but it pisses people off to repeat something over and over again and still get the same wrong results.
There are several eateries I go to, and it's the same thing, almost every time.
Once I went in to a joint, and the guy was making fun of me in Spanish, which was wonderful because I rejoinded with, "amigo, no estira esa mierda con mi, se el espanol", because I do know a good amount of conversational Spanish, not like the crap you learn in High School. His eyes got as big as dinner plates, and everyone was cool to me after that.

| 9. Maybe you should eat somewhere else? Why give your hard earned |

money to a joint that can't get run right?
No one's forcing you to give them your money.
