Has anyone here had any experience(s) with meetup.com?

There are a couple of groups that I am interested in, however I am a little apprehensive.

Any tales to tell?

1. I Do!

I'm in Tech, and I joined a bunch of Meetup.com tech groups, and so far they've been amazing! They're helping me professionally. I am unemployed, and I'm trying to redirect my career. I've learned a lot in the groups that I've joined, and I'm joining more.

Now, I haven't joined any of the social or non-tech groups yet, but I may. BTW, I'm in NYC.
