16. I remember when I was more inspired to post in it.

Interesting discussions, groups of people who knew each other, threads showing concern for people in a crisis, lots of cameraderie and assistance when it was asked for, a lot fewer banal posts just trying to get something started. Some real soul. Nowadays I wander through, look at all the sameness, drop in and post a few nothings without any real passion, and watch my nothings get ignored by others as unmotivated as me.

There's still some good stuff, it's just not like it used to be. And no, I'm not saying that any one person or group of people made it better or worse. It's just moved in other directions.

Why am I ALWAYS the last to know?

Around 1975, I stayed at the Hotel Kempinski in West Berlin --
tiny closet of a room for what I seem to remember was around
$500 (a five-star hotel).

Upon checking out, the concierge looks me in the eye and asks,
in his heavily-accented perfect English, "Did you perhaps have
an opportunity to enjoy our nude co-ed sauna?"

I finally determined that he had just been messing with the
