5. I figured out it was purgatory somewhere around the end of season #1 |

and stuck it out until mid-way season #3 til I realized I just didn't care anymore.
But I did watch the finale and wasn't shocked with how it turned out.

Showing the regulars aging and eventually dying fit right in with a show that dealt with death on a weekly basis.

They just did it so well and they had that song that fit like a charm. It was brilliant and they wrote the textbook for just how to do a season finale properly and give justice to the characters you spent years investing time in watching them.
