2. In "Cannery Row", Doc tells a tall tale about "beer milk shakes" for the longest time... |
. . . ...but can never quite work up the nerve to order one (this is during the Great Depression and he's ALREADY suspect for his time because he sports a beard). . . . He has a very emotionally traumatic day and stops at a diner and defiantly orders one (though explaining that it's under doctor's orders ). . . . It's terrible, but he drinks the whole thing down. . . . It's in the movie, too -- VERY funny. . . .

4. It's one of my all-time favorites and draws heavily on his sequel to "C.R." -- "Sweet Thursday". n/t |

7. No... the MOVIE "Cannery Row" is taken from Steinbeck's two novels... |
. . . ..."Cannery Row" and ITS sequel "Sweet Thursday". The sequel gave us the baseball sub-plot and the Debra Winger "floozy" character. . . . For the best Nick Nolte performance (although "Cannery Row" is superb), try "North Dallas Forty" -- a movie about the corporatization of football vs those in it for the love of the sport. Even Mac Davis is good in that movie. It is ALSO an incredible movie. . And nobody... NOBODY grunts like Nick -- and in North Dallas Forty he is at his gruntiest. . . .

10. I don't care who wrote 'em, I just liked Nolte. That was before he went all skanky. |
Not that he wasn't working his way there. Glad it's not my job to be a professional performer, er actor. As to acting up, I got that down.
