| Why are the Cubs playing when it's pouring down rain at Wrigley Field? |
|
Edited on Sat May-14-11 07:46 PM by Brigid
They're playing the Giants, and it's like the Keystone Cops right now. They can't see to hit or catch the ball, they're sliding all over the place, everybody's wet and freezing -- call the game already! :grr:

which makes that part of it , anyway, different from any other Cub game exactly how?
( Looong time Cub fan here, so I've seen it all...almost) But I'm in the Southwest now (one too many Chi-Town winters) so I'll trust you're saying the weather's too bad to be playing.

| 3. Well, at least a rain delay has been called. |
|
This game has not been a pretty sight. It's been hard on both teams and on the fans. I expect it will be ruled a complete game because it was called in the sixth inning. That means a Cubs loss, since the Giants are ahead. X(

wiping off seats? Why was he doing that, in the rain? How futile!
Maybe they are the right people to own the Cubs, doing something like that. Wiping off wet seats during a rainstorm! Geeze Louise!

Management was FURIOUS with them. I think it was one of the first if not THE first night games at Wrigley.

The very first night game was rained out.
I think that was a sign from God. There should be no night baseball in Wrigley Field. Play the game as God intended, in God's sunshine, in God's ballpark.

| 18. Yup. And people had shelled out as much as a thousand bucks a ticket. |
|
And it was in the middle of a drought. That was pretty much the only time it rained that whole summer.

| 11. Cubs are one of the best hitting teams in the National League at the moment |
|
Edited on Sun May-15-11 09:53 AM by JonLP24
Though you're probably right about their catching though I'm thinking mostly of Starlin Castro. He has bright future but is making the mistakes you'd expect from a young guy such as himself and he plays short stop. He'll have a stretch where he'll do very well then have an inning where he commits multiple errors. Also when they were playing the Cardinals the announcers pointed out he should of cut off the throw to third base to stop the other runner from advancing to 2nd. However he is batting .338 so he is hitting the ball very well.

| 14. And now we don't even get to play today |
|
I was really looking forward to watching that game today.
Apparently there have been an excessive number of games called for weather this season so far.
Global warming?
What is the rule for rained out games? Seems it wasn't fair to the Cubs to call it for the Giants when there were still 2 innings left.
And what about today's ticket holders? Do they get compensated, like maybe get to go to the June 28th game?
How do these things work?

November. I guess they will try to get the makeup games in early. Although, with global warming, it may be warm enough to play into the middle of November.
The people who have tickets get a rain check, if they present their tickets.
