| American Horror Story...Dayum! (Spoilers, sorta) |
|
I've been catching up on this. Jesus! It is really creepy. One lesson seems to be don't, under ANY circumstances, get pregnant. Then there's the ever popular (and I hate this one) "shrinks are crazy and dangerous". But it is doing a job on me and I love that who's alive and who's not isn't readily apparent.
But it did get me to thinking about what people are afraid of these days. They're a little close to GOP talking points in this show--the gay house owners were crazy and perverse, health care providers are crazy, abortion is dangerous and women are out of control. Is this the root of paranoia in the political sphere or are the Republicans, as I read in other psychology literature, just very good at frightening people with our fears of being vulnerable and of people who are different from us?
